Gears of War 3 Unlockables/Ribbons/Awards

Personal Assistant
Assisted 5 kills in a round

This is easy to obtain, just make sure you put at least 1 bullet into 5 different enemies in one round. Have a look where the enemies go at the beginning and come up behind them with a lancer. If you play king of the hill this ribbon will be hard to avoid!

Always remember your first
Welcome to versus, complete one VS match

Just simply play a vs match

MVP
Highest points scored in one match

To get the MVP you have to be the highest scoring player in the game. the person with the most damage will win this.

Never had a chance
Won every round in a match

To obtain this ribbon you just need to win each round. Easily done in King of the hill with a decent team. You will win by default if you play enough games.


Untouchable
Never captured when playing as leader

Use the LB button to look where enemies are. Avoid them, dont go looking for kills, just get away from as many enemies as you can. Playing with a good team will help you get this ribbon.

Bagman
Captured the enemy leader

Down the leader then pick him up by pressing X

Medic
Revived 5 teammates in a round

Stand close to players throughout one match. you will be more likely to get revives. as soon as they go down hit revive and they may get downed straight away again. You can get 3 revives on one player before they die

Buttoned Up
Spent the most time in cover

Use cover a lot, only one person can get this ribbon in a match

Last Man Out
Last man standing on your team

Stay alive whatever it takes. More likely to obtain this on warzone/execution

Better Man
Won a sudden death showdown

Be the last man on your team against one other person on the other team and win the battle. Dont take too many risks and let them make mistakes to guarentee the win

First Blood
Earned the first kill of the round

run as quickly as you can to a power weapon and take out someone as quickly as you can. You shouldn't try this too much unless you really want this ribbon!

Clusterluck
Killed multiple opponents with one grenade

you can obtain this on the campaign fairly easily. Or on multiplayer wait for lots of players to cluster together and throw a grenade.

Not so fast
Killed an opponent that is executing a teammate.

Anyone chainsawing an enemy, or using a weapon execution are easy to kill. To go up to them with the gnasher or sawed off for an easy kill and ribbon.

Negotiation Over
Headshot an opponent with a meatshield

This is a fun ribbon to grab. Make sure you shoot the right head. Use a boltok or a sniper. For a challenge try the boomshot ;)

Retribution
Kill your nemesis.

your nemesis is someone who has killed you 3 times in a match?? not too sure on this. But get revenge on him. More likely to get this in king of the hill.

Death from beyond
Killed an oponent after you have died.

Tag some grenades around the place and you are more likely to get this ribbon

Godlike
Killed 25 opponents without dying.

AH HA, a tough ribbon to obtain. Use capture the leader gametype, make sure you are the leader. You can press LB to see enemies check out this video Godlike Ribbon Guide

Invincible
Killed 20 opponents without dying.

Not as tough as the previous godlike ribbon but you can still use this guide as a basis Godlike Ribbon Guide

Unstoppable
Killed 15 opponents without dying.

 Rampage
Killed 10 opponents without dying.
again, see this Godlike Ribbon Guide

Killing Spree
Killed 5 opponents without dying.
again, see this Godlike Ribbon Guide

Stop Thief!
5 kills stolen by others in a round.

if you really want this, then just down players and let others finish them off!

Lumberjack
Chainsawed 3 victims in a row.

this can be tough as you are very exposed after just one chainsaw kill. Make sure you have a partner to help you out and protect you whilst you go for it

Charge!
Retro charged 3 victims in a row.

look for enemies who are not paying too much attention to things and take them out

F.I.F.O
First to die in a round.

you will get this playing legit in time. Dont try and get this :(

Lead by Example
Killed 5 opponents as the leader in a round.

fairly easy with the use of LB. you can a big advantage as leader.

Want Something Done
Captured the enemy leader when playing as the leader.

Make sure your team is close by at all times if you are going for this. Having the 2 leaders together is risky and anyone could win if it all goes wrong.

Unlucky Bastard
Only player on your team to die in a round.

You will get this one in time, dont try and do this you stupid bastard.

Team Player
Most assists in a match

use the lancer and shoot bullets into anyone you see.

Pick up Artist
Most revives in a match

sit behind team members and revive whenever you can. If you revive them as soon as they go down, they may go down straight after again so you can get 2 revives for one.


Final Word
Final Kill of the Match.

Make sure you know where people are as much as possible. The players who know whats going on will be more likely to obtain this ribbon

Coup de Grace
Final kill with an execution

Make sure you know where people are as much as possible. The players who know whats going on will be more likely to obtain this ribbon

Military Intelligence
5 enemies spotted ending in a kill.

press in that thumb stick. Sit somewhere where you can overlook as many enemies as possible. Wait for them all to spawn and spot them all!

Grenade Hug
Killed an opponent after being grenade tagged.

If you get tagged then jump towards someone as quickly as possible, you have about 2 seconds before you will explode!

Top of the Hill
Killed 5 opponents from inside the ring.

This is tough, maybe the sawed off? run into the ring un detected and blow away everyone in the ring. then whilst in the ring use the lancer and down and kill as many people as possible. 

Ring Breaker
Broke opposing ring 3 times in a round.

stay near the ring and wait for your opportunity to strike. Break the ring, run away and hide nearby. Wait for them to cap then blow them away breaking the ring at the same time.

Dead Ringer
Won a round of KOTH by shutting out the opposing team.

Dont let the other team get a single capture point. Get a good team together and get on the mics to communicate. Stick together a lot!

Mortarfied
Killed multiple opponents with a single mortar shot

easily done on king of the hill. Fire towards the ring when multiple enemies are standing inside.

Boombardier
Killed multiple opponents with a single boomshot shot.

same as above

Kabooom!
Killed multiple opponents with a single Sawed-off shotgun shot.

same as above

Roadblock
Stopped a Retro charge with the Sawed-off shotgun.

timing is everything for this. Make sure you know the range of the sawed off well.

Death from below
Killed an opponent with a grenade while downed.

press RT when you have a grenade equipped and an enemy is nearby.

Oscar Mike
Killed a roadie running opponent with a headshot.

use the sniper and aim for player who are running towards you. these are easiest to kill as their head will stay in the same place.

The Super
Killed an evading opponent with a headshot.

The player must be in a roll.

Giant Slayer
Killed an opponent that is 50 levels above you.

this could be a tough one to obtain as most players currently playing are of about the same level and experience. as time goes on and you dont rank up this may be easier, but this is a ribbon many people will never obtain!

Underdog
Killed an opponent that is 25 levels above you.

similar to above but not nearly as rare to obtain

Survivor
Revived yourself twice in a round.

keep hammering that A button to get up after being downed in TDM

Ring King
Captured a ring 3 times in a round.

keep close to the ring, defend it and re capture. You can rack up lots of points by getting lots of caps.

Sapper Star
Killed an opponent with their own planted grenade.

if a player is near his own planted grenade you can shoot the grenade to kill the player. Try the torque bow, or any explosive weapon. These players are usually very stupid :)

Ole!
Grenade tagged a Retro charging opponent.

as the player runs past you just side step and plant it in their shoulder.

Hat Trick
Scored 3 headhosts in a row without dying.

use the sniper or the boltok to get this ribbon.

The Double
Two quick kills in a row.

you have to get two kills within about 3 seconds of the first. Once the kill disappears off the screen then you are too late.

The Quad
Four quick kills in a row.

same applies to the above

The Quinn
Five quick kills in a row.

same applies to the above

First to fight
First kill in every round of a match.

run in and get the first kill as quickly as you can. This is risky, you ll get it in time

The Cleaner
Final kill in every round of a match.

stay alive and make sure you know who is about at all times so you know where the location of the last kill is.

Methodical
Five executions in a round.

chainsaw, retro charge, or hold Y, press X on a downed enemy (5 times)

Vigilant

Won a match with no death and 10+ kills

Solid

kill the same person 3 times in a match. easier to obtain on KOTH

Trick Shot
One Torque Bow headshot leading to a double kill

This is very tough. It will be common for people to try and boost this. You need to line up an opponents head with an enemy directly behind them. You can try campaign on casual and look around for an opportunity to get one of these.

Hail Mary
Boomshot kill from over 200 feet.

the boomshot will fire a very long distance. If attempting this you will need to fire slightly higher than you think. the boomshot has a curved trajectory because of gravity effecting the bullet that comes out. aim to hit a wall behind a player, and use the active bullet as this is ridiculously deadly.

Swift Vengeance

revenge killed your last killer

remember who killed you and go after them and kill them. If you fail then try again.

Clutch
Killed 3 or more as last man standing to win the round.

tough to do. you need to be a pretty decent player, or very lucky! defend an area and use cover manipulation to down enemies. use the flamethrower in a narrow passage way and lure enemies into reviving each other. you can watch clutches on the site by clicking here

Secret Service
Most leader rescues in a match.

shoot the guy that is holding your leader. Use the lancer from a safe distance. The person holding your leader only has a pistol.

Eye on the prize
Most points earned in the ring.

Stay in the ring, make it yours. You own this.

Evasive
Least damage taken in a match

Contender
Most melee hits in a match

hit that B button, don't make too much habit of getting this ribbon, your K/D will suffer.

Spray and Pray
Most blindfire kills in a match

blindfire gnasher/boltok/torque bow/retro/lancer are the best weapons for this

Headhunter
Most headshot kills in a match

use that boltok or sniper a lot!

Carmines Star
Most headshot deaths in a match.

dont try and get this!

Grenadier
Most grenade kills in a match.

double throw grenades at groups of enemies. You dont need to hold LT to aim. 

Pistoleer
Most pistol kills in a match.

down enemies with lancer, finish with pistol, don't disregard the pistol, it is a great weapon.

Quick clips
Most perfect Active Reloads in a match.

Use active reloads lots to automatically have the upper hand in battles. Pre active lancer, at the beginning of the round, then reload before you get involved in a gunfight to maximise active bullets (these are very deadly)

Well Protected
Most revived players in a match.

keep close to teammates and they will pick you up when you are downed (in theory)

Guys? Hello?
Most time down but not out in a match.

if your team mates refuse to pick you up at least you may get a new ribbon to show off :)

No Smoking
Killed an opponent with a smoke grenade

down the player twice, then tag them with a smoke grenade to get the kill
