As you will all know (if you’re going for seriously 3.0) the Skunker medal is one of the hardest, longest, biggest pain in the ass to get onyx. You need 2500 “Never had a chance” ribbons and to get one of them you need to “Skunk” the enemy, and to do that you need to play a match with at least 2 rounds and you need to win both rounds without the other team winning at all. Needless to say this takes a long time.
So I have an “alright” way of getting this ribbon quite fast when I’m playing, but what I’m looking for is a good way of getting it in idle play (AFK). So what I’m looking for from the Gears community is a collection of ideas, thoughts, hints, tips anything you might have to offer to this page to help myself and anyone else visiting this page looking for ways to help get this medal onyx either on their own or with friends.
I know a lot of people have trouble with this so hopefully we can be a “go to” place for info on the Skunker medal. This isn’t about submitting the best or fastest way of doing it (That Would be nice) but about a collection of ideas to keep people from getting bored trying to get this so you can mix it up and try other methods, what one person might find slow and tedious someone else might find a refreshing change to the way they do it. Anything you have to share about this medal would be very much appreciated.
So I’ll get the ball rolling with my method, this isn’t anything new or special, some or many people may have already heard it, but as were looking to get a collection of methods I’ll start with this one.
You need two controllers 1 your main profile and 2 your dummy profile, you want a private match of warzone, 2 round match, 1 minute round, bots full, bots casual, friendly fire ON, you then want your main as cog and your dummy as locust or vice versa. Weapons all boomshots. Map: clocktower.
At the start of the match you want to be playing with your dummy profile and kill your entire team then run to the boomshot and shoot the floor to kill yourself, repeat this in the second round and your main profile wins both rounds and gets a ribbon. At the end of the match quit out and re-load clocktower*, rinse and repeat. I use the map clocktower because the bots don’t really wonder off to much at the start because of the spawn point you start in, it’s easy to get in front of them and kill them all quick and the boomshot is right next to you when you need it to kill yourself.
You get a ribbon every 2-3 minutes give or take. Not super quick if you need a couple of thousand but quick enough. But like all boosting a few hours of this and it starts to get boring so like I said earlier I’d like a good way to AFK this ribbon so I can get some whilst I sleep. So get typing and let’s get a good collection of ways to beat this both whilst playing and whilst AFK. I would love to hear the thoughts of the Gears community on this matter and what you have been doing.
*You might not want to keep quitting out and re-loading the clocktower map and just let it roll on and load the next level for a bit of a change of scenery, That’s fine, I’ve not really timed it to see which way is faster (Quit and re-load or let it roll on to the next level) but with the loading screens I don’t think there is a lot in it. Some other levels though are very large and your bots can start all over the place and can then split up and you can waste time chasing them down, and then the boomshot might not be that close so again time is wasted here and there. But your that’s up to you.
Many Thanks hope this helps and I very much look forward to hearing from you.

Comment by h00ded0ne on September 27, 2012 at 21:47 I still like the Hammer of Dawn on Gridlock method (Execution, bots full and casual, Hammer of Dawn is the loadout for Longshot, 2 rounds). You obviously have to play it, but when you consider it is giving you 10 hammer deaths (which count for Pyro) and you will get Buttoned up, and MVP and Skunker, I feel it's worth it. I just spend about 30-45 minutes at the end of my night doing it and i will get at least 10 of each ribbon and at least 100 Pyro kills. Plus you get to hear "Mad World" play on the second round every time which makes it nicer to play.

Comment by ERL0 on September 27, 2012 at 20:21 Leaving this one for a while I have only got 810 so a fair way to go yet.
For over nigh AFK I’ve been doing Capture the leader with me on the COG team and a second controller on the locust. Rounds to win 2, capture time: 10, Bots: Insane, bleed out time 15 seconds and weapons set all to default.
Been leaving it on for around 8 to 10 hours and have been getting between 30 and 50 ribbons a night. I have left it on for 24 hours or so a few times and been lucky to get over a hundred (Though no always).
This is about the quickest way I have found to do this most horrible medal AFK, I’m on 2274 doing it this way from when I got the gold (500) I will be SO glad when this one pops (I’m so close I can taste it …) When I have this my Xbox can finally sleep at night as this is my last AFK medal to get. Hope this helps and good luck
Comment by DaMieN on July 11, 2012 at 22:04 well in the link I show in mi first comment, there´s someone who´s wrote down a way to idle boost for the skunk medal, seems.... accesible to be idle boosting.
Best way to idle boost Skunker is 2 Xboxes in System Link. Sign in 3 accounts (no need for gold) plus yourself. Start a 2-round, 60-second KotH game and full insane bots with no weapon pickups. Put all 3 silvers on the other team. It'll be you (idle) and 4 bots against 3 idles and 2 bots. Preliminary testing shows that only 9% of the time will the 2 Insane bots actually capture a ring and ruin a Skunker. The flaw is that you need 2 boxes, 2 copies of the game, and 4 wired controllers.

BY THE WAY, you don´t need wired controllers for idle boosting, just unplug the battery pack on the load screen before the match start, the xbox ask you to connect a controller but the game never will pause.
Comment by DaMieN on July 11, 2012 at 20:32 no problem, glad to help.

Comment by DaMieN on July 11, 2012 at 19:35 the best solution boosting in warzone is in offline mode, delete the system cahe form you hard drive, (go to : system, storage, on hard drive press "Y" (device options) and delete system cahe)
after that you can bosting like in ejecution mode, 2 on your team vs 1 enemy team, set up 1 minute per match and you automatically wins when time drains out , you can choose a female caracter for the battle mistress onyx medal. Remember do this boosting offline.

well there is some medals that you must play to achieve, for example "Shock Trooper", "Hard Target", "MVP" and "Cover", actually I just put the private match in 2 rounds for the skunk medal and stop idling in warzone (must play the game anyway) chek this youtube channel there have nice bosting tips. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ucqLqxd1q8
