Sniper Rifle/Longshot Tips for Gears of War 3

The sniper rifle is a very powerful weapon IF it is in the right hands..

You should be targeting players who are using rifles. Or anyone else holding the L trigger to aim. This is because they are a stationary target.

The sniper rifle should be seen as a priority weapon to have at the start of a match. If in the right hands, it can disable the teams efforts to use the lancer and hammerburst weapons effectively.

You can watch the following video for technical help for using the sniper rifle. Quick aims and slight adjustments are usually all you need. If you can aim without holding LT initially then you will not have to adjust as much. I tend to get one axis correct, then it is merely a case of adjusting left or right quickly, or the Y axis up or down quickly to get more consistency with hard aims.

Tips for avoiding being killed by the Sniper Rifle on Gears of War 3

being aware of when the sniper is picked up is important. Keep an eye out on the match news feed on the bottom left as it will show when it is picked up and by what team. If the other team has it, then you can do the following..

Keep moving! If you are a moving target you are less likely to die from this weapon.

Be aware of where the enemy is. Use a less attacking mentality.. this means you do not run crazily around trying to kill everyone and anything in your path. Use your brain a bit more, move from cover to cover staying out of sight of the sniper rifle enemy, whilst also being aware of anything else going on around you!
